You get what is advertised
I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940).
I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain.
So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome!
Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

Don't waste your money
Model G0071320 w/electric start (battery) sn; 3003531902
Pressure washing features work fine engine starts fairly easily with the pull cord. The electric start worked twice, now nothing. They're online chat help thing is virtually useless you'd have more luck on Facebook. Wouldn't waste my money on the electric start model if I had to do over again. Battery is fully charged all the wires are connected checked connection with a multimeter it's not the wiring it's the button but they don't believe me.

Great unit!
We have had the 17500 for a few years now and it has been great for us. We live near a national forest so when power goes out it generally stays out for several hours to several days. We do the regular maintenance on her and have a trickle charge solar panel on the battery. It definitely burns through fuel, however, it runs EVERYTHING. Also is very heavy, so have so.e strong people around if you need to move it or place it strategically and then buy a sturdy after market cover to keep it out of the elements.

Changing of the guard
We have been running our old 15KW Generac Guardian Ultra-source gasoline generator for the past decade to power our home during after hurricane power outages. The Generac has always been dependable. ( Be on notice however, if there are huge amounts of ethanol in gasoline, the unit WILL NOT RUN. A thing that may or may not be an issue after a hurricane ). We only run non-ethanol as a standard with fuel treatment, bolster your reserves. With standard maintenance (oil, plugs, filters, battery,,,) and running for 30 minutes+ every month, it has aways been “at the ready”. After 10 years, we are pulling the 15KW from service to rebuild the unit and it will be a backup. The 15KW would run 1 of 2 Central Vac systems, the heavy amp draw well pump, kitchen, home theater, lights, water heater, etc,,. Naturally we can shut subsystems off to conserve fuel. We do have our property in the swamps of Florida, 2 miles from the main road, so we are the last place where propane will be delivered after an event of a hurricane or other crazy events, that is why we chose gasoline. We purchased the new Generac 17500 and was delivered yesterday. At unboxing, we realized that the wheel axle was missing. Fortunately we had our existing 15KW and we had a working axel to maneuver the new 17.5 Generac through the landscaping into position. I thought, “here we go!”. I called Generac Support the next morning and “Bam”! The support rep was an English Speaking American in the States (Chris) and the part is on its way,,, UPS! 15 minutes of may time, done! Wow! It’s a bummer that my new purchase was missing a part, but I am surprised at the quick phone pickup with a fix! We will see how the new Generac performs, as it is expected to a active hurricane summer in Florida, The El’Nino weather effect is drifting away again.

Impossible to start
I’ve had this 3 years now and used it 5 times. I’ve TRIED to use it several more times and absolutely cannot get it to start. The electric start is a joke. I can’t pull the cord to start it so I’m stuck with something I can barely use. It’s always a guess if I hook it up - “will it start today or not?” Usually NO. The fittings leak, the hose is very stiff and overall it’s just a bad design. At this point I’m ready to buy a plug in electric pressure washer. I can’t believe Generac still sells this piece of junk.

Nice looking unit, but difficult to start initially
Unit will not now start, no matter how many times I pull starter rope. Only has about 30 hours on it. Good fuel and spark plug.
Don't buy this unit , I am very disappointed!!
